O’Brien Pet Foods opened in 1988 and since has established itself as the Squamish pet food store. From day one, loving and caring for all animals in Squamish has been our passion. Store Manager
Sierra has worked in the shop for more than 10 years. Need help on the best dog food, raw dog food options or pet supplements? Sierra will help you out. She not only knows dogs and cats, over the years she has made her house a home for dogs, cats and other small animals, Her current household includes: Corey a gargoyle gecko, a crested gecko named Trevor, a leachianus gecko named Ricky, nine pond fish, two koi butterfly fish, two regular koi, and five goldfish.

Teresa has extensive knowledge and experience with a wide variety of pets from small to large, ranging from fish, reptiles, and small mammals all the way up to horses and other farm animals. She is a wonderful resource to have in our community.
“I have a great love of all animals and own many…from the standard cat and dog, to exotic reptiles. Some are rescue and I have rescued and rehomed many over the years. I’ve been in the pet store industry for about 14 years and enjoy it! Helping owners find the correct items for their pet, whether it’s food or accessories, and answering any questions I am able to is something I love to do.”

One thing that hasn’t changed over time is the presence of ‘Princess’ in the shop.. She is our African Grey Parrot who has lived in the pet store since the day it opened. Princess is over 30 years old! Over the years, the shop has seen many people and their pets and through it all Princess has greeted every single one of them.
Princess can mimic many sounds and if you are lucky, she’ll meet you with a “Hello” and bid you “goodbye.” One of her tricks is playing dead or if you bring your dog into the shop she’ll try to whistle or tell it to come over. Come see her any hour the shop is open!
Owners
As the current owners, we are Brent and Lin Smith. We have lived in Squamish since 2012 with our two young children Nate and Maddie. Over the years our appreciation for the community and the surrounding area has led us to make Squamish our permanent home. We can honestly say our love for Squamish is only rivaled by our love of animals. You’ll find our 13-yr old chow mix, Rocky hanging around the shop from time to time. We rescued him as an elder statesman needing a new home from the SPCA in Burnaby in 2018. Your pets are welcome here too, so feel free to bring your pet with you when you visit to say “Hi.”
